About Comprehensive Kenya Safaris
Nairobi-based mountain and safari specialists. We lead with Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro, price in USD, and run every trip safety-first.
Our story
Comprehensive Kenya Safaris is based in Karen, Nairobi — minutes from the gates of Nairobi National Park and a few hours from Mount Kenya. We were founded on a simple belief: that climbing Africa's great mountains and seeing its wildlife should be transparently priced, expertly guided and genuinely safe.
We specialise in Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro first, because that is what we know best. Our lead guides have summited Point Lenana over 200 times and Uhuru Peak more than 60 times. From there we run wildlife safaris across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda — and beach holidays on the Kenya coast.
Safety first, always
Every mountain trip runs on a safety-first protocol: daily health checks, pulse-oximetry monitoring above 4,000m, emergency evacuation procedures and trained first-aid guides. We carry supplemental oxygen on all Kilimanjaro trips and Mount Kenya technical climbs. We will turn a climber around if symptoms worsen — the mountain is always there next time.
Conservation on every climb
For every climber on a Mount Kenya trip, we plant an indigenous tree with a local community group on the mountain's lower slopes. It is a small act, multiplied across hundreds of climbers a year, that gives back to the mountain that gives us our living. We are proud partners of a WWF-aligned conservation initiative.

What our guests say
We took our two kids (9 and 12) to the Maasai Mara and it was the best family decision we've ever made. Edward knew exactly how to keep the children engaged — stopping near elephant herds, explaining lion behaviour, and never rushing a sighting. The kids still talk about the cheetah we watched for forty minutes. CKS made a family safari genuinely stress-free.
I only had one free day in Nairobi and CKS made it count. The Sirimon day hike took me past giant groundsels and old man's beard to around 3,900m — proper alpine scenery without needing a full expedition. David paced it perfectly and I was back at my hotel by evening. The best day trip I've ever done.
Tsavo was completely different from the Mara — vast, red-earthed, and gloriously empty of other vehicles. We saw the famous red elephants dust-bathing, a leopard near Mzima Springs, and had the Kilaguni waterhole almost to ourselves at sunset. Four days felt like a true wilderness expedition rather than a tourist circuit. Edward's knowledge of this park is exceptional.
