Mount Kenya Sirimon Route — 4 Days to Point Lenana
The Sirimon route is the most popular and best-acclimatizing ascent on Mount Kenya, approaching from the north through dense montane forest …
An intimate four-day adventure combining two hidden northern Kenya gems: Ngare Ndare Forest, a lush indigenous forest at Mount Kenya's northern foothills with seven spectacular waterfalls, natural azure swimming pools, and East Africa's longest suspension bridge (1,350 feet) — and Samburu National Reserve, the semi-arid wilderness home of the Samburu Special Five and rich Samburu culture. Driver Edward will guide you personally throughout.
Your driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel or the airport and drive via Nanyuki to Ngare Ndare Forest Conservancy. A forest ranger meets the group for a briefing, then leads a hike to the famous waterfalls — seven natural falls up to 30 feet high. Picnic lunch in the forest. Walk the 1,350-foot suspension bridge (East Africa's longest) for elevated views of the forest canopy and swamp below. Spot elephants or even leopards in the dense forest. Transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive north to Samburu National Reserve along the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River. Check in to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive targeting the Samburu Special Five: reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich — species found only in this semi-arid ecosystem. Lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, hippos, and over 400 bird species including lilac-breasted rollers and martial eagles.
Early morning game drive (approximately 2 hours) returning for breakfast. Late morning relaxation at the lodge (pool, birding from the riverbank). After lunch, another full afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Ng'iro River — prime crocodile and hippo territory. Optional cultural visit to a Samburu village: traditional dances, beadwork, and community interaction.
Early morning game drive for final wildlife sightings. Return to the lodge for a late brunch. Depart for Nairobi, arriving late afternoon. End of the Ngare Ndare & Samburu journey.
